Bottle courtesy of fonefan poured into a tulip.
Pours a bright cloudy golden yellow with an enormous pillowy white head that shows exceptional retention and leaves little clumps of lacing on the sides.
The aroma is quite hoppy for the style with some lemony citrus and a bit of herbal grassy character as well, probably from the simcoe. There is also a hefty toasted bread aroma which balances the hops.
The taste is bitter up front, almost tart in fact, with the lemon zest puckering the lips a little. There is a toasted bread and spicy yeast in there and it's almost like a breaded lemon spritzer, which is something I may have just made up.
The mouthfeel is light and effervescent with a dry and bitter/spicy finish.
I really enjoyed this beer as it's got a predominant hop character that doesn't overwhelm the dry toasty character. Lots of flavor for such a low ABV beer. Extraordinarily refreshing and an excellent summer afternoon brew.
