On tap at In de Wildeman in Amsterdam. From notes.

A - Poured a really really dark brown. Two finger beige head. Body became muddy from sediment when I noticed. Great thick lacing on the glass. Cool lookin' beer.

S - Woah. I assumed there would be a little funk to compliment a good porter. Assumption: incorrect. There was a strong lambic aroma to this and not much else. No porter element there at all. Just a sour smelling black beer.

T - Roasty. It's a start at least! Lambic style sourness was soon to follow with lemon, grassiness, and wet cardboard there too.

M - Mild carbonation and a medium body. Sweet lingering finish.

O/D - I leaned to my brother a few sips in and said "I don't think I like this very much." Not a good combo in my opinion. The 'wilde' portion took over way too much in a beer that doesn't seem like it has any business melding those two characteristics. Not enough porter to balance against the sourness. I can see people enjoying this, just don't put it in front of me again. I finished it for the experience and didn't have to choke it down, I simply didn't think it was any good.

Had on tap at Bierproeflokaal In De Wildeman in Amsterdam. It was brewed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the bar.

Pours a dark black with hints of deep maroon and a huge head.

The nose is very fruity with raspberries, blackberries, and black cherry.

A little sweet, coffee malts and licorice dominate the mouth, with complementary notes of pumpernikel bread and molasses. A very rich roasted malt finish concludes this wonderful beer.

Definitely worth tracking down, this is an excellent and well balanced porter that I could have sipped all day.
