From tasting notes from a visit to the brewery on 3/1/11.
Ordered a 20oz draft of the spring seasonal Helles Bock. Presented in nice hefe glass, very crisp clear straw; light white head that ringed the glass and clings with some lacing, very nice.
Smell is a nice pilsner malt aroma, lightly sweet and bicuity with just a touch of astrigency.
Taste is nice big pilsner malt front, with light sweetness, with a hint of fruitiness, like grapefruit followed with a touch of estery alcohol (not out of place).
Mouthfeel is well balanced, good carbonation to keep flavors balanced throughout and the malt sweetness is not overdone.
Overall, a great helles bock, very glad to find this one in northern AZ on spring transitional day with some snow on the ground but the bright sun keeping us warm.
