Enjoyed Brett Wine at Cask Days 2014. 12% Abv. Appearance is caramel brown. Aroma os raisen, brett horseblanket, funk, toffee. Taste has caramel malts with dried fruits, raisin, figs, before more funky brett dryness comes in, musty chests and slight farmy notes all over a rich muddled dark fruit and spice flavours. Balance and feel are very nice, hiding the 12% abv in a dark delicious sipper, really potent and rich. This was one of the festival standouts for me.

On cask at Bières et Saveurs: Poured a cloudy light burgundy color ale with small bubbly head. Aroma of dry funky Brett notes is dominant with not much else noticeable. Taste is dominated by light tart notes with some barnyard notes clearly identifiable with some vinous also quite clearly noticeable. Body is about average with light carbonation which is expected form a cask. Interesting experiment with the barrel aging and the Brett notes totally removing some of the original characteristics from the base barley wine. Hoppy notes also had totally disappeared.
