Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of smoked peated malt notes with some black chocolate notes is quite enticing. Taste is a god mix of peated malt notes, black chocolate notes with light road malt notes with light residual sugar notes also perceptible. Body is pretty full with good level of carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Nice presence of peated malt but never overwhelming with great base been flavours still shining through.

6 oz pour at a tasting into the finest clear dixie cup.
A: Dark black in color with a fat mocha brown head.
S: Light bits of toffee, caramel, smoke, chocolate, very sweet smelling.
T: Dark fruits, raisins, plums, figs, licorice, chocolate, toffee, caramel, fairly sweet on the tongue a little bit of a smokiness some roasted nuts taste.
M: Thick but not chewy, a little syrup and clings to the tongue.
O: Exceptional beer . This beer is so layered and nuanced and the aftertaste you keep picking up new and different flavors. It is on the sweeter side but does not suffer for it at all and although I described the mouthfeel as syrupy it is pleasantly so instead of cloying. This beer is worth stealing over. I have not had too many beers aged in Scotch barrels, but this one brings out the smoke nicely and maybe a hint of the peat.
