Poured a dark amber brown into a pint tulip. Two fingers of head. Good looking beer.

Strong Sour aroma, hops, spices. This brewery has a particular odor that I can't place my finger one. I believe its the yeast they use.
...
Taste is fruity, spicy, some roasted flavors. Raisins, black cherries, peppercorns. Lots of yeast. Strong, but clean bitter finish with a citrus sourness to go with it. Very different, but I'm not as familiar with German beer

Overall a very nice beer, most microbreweries in Quebec delve in the Belgium style of beer making, but Les Trois Musquetaires mostly brew German style beers - which is refreshing. I highly recommend their stuff.

Good cream-white head over an opqaue, nutty-brown/orange body.

Smells of orange, coriander, earthy German noble hops, lemon candy and slightly roasted malt.

Tons of earthy hops come out in the mouth, with the floral, bitter orange and coriander being more subtle, striking a nice balance. Medium light malt and a bit of alcohol. Earthy, bitter orange finish.

The feel could be heavier for the flavour. Medium-light body with a medium-low carbonation.

Quite a drinkable brew, I'll most likely pick this up again sometime.

Viggo brought this one over. thanks eric!

750ml corked and caged bottle. sampled march 27/2011.

pours hazy deep red, appearing closer to deep orange when held to light. a big fine light tan head forms, dropping slowly and leaving spotty lace.

aroma is neat. tons of orange peel and spice, perhaps coriander? floral and slightly perfumey/soapy. white bread and cracker. bit of alcohol. really herbal too. bit of caramel. there's a lot going on so far.

taste is neat. super orangy and herbal. orange peel and coriander. herbal and a bit perfumey. tangerine and orange. white bread and cracker. bit of grain. light caramel. bit of alcohol. low bitterness level. there's a nice light and complimentary lager character in the background that works really well.

mouthfeel is good. medium-light body. just over medium carbonation level.

drinkability is nice. what an interesting and peculiar beer this is. different, complex, unique. well balanced.

750 ml bottle picked up in Montreal.

Pours a clear dark reddish brown, some orange/dark amber highlights, medium sized white head forms and slowly settles down to a medium ring and layer around the glass, good lacing sticks all over.

Smell is nice, light and malty, some honey and biscuit, a touch of wafer, orange peel sweetness, a lot of coriander spice, pepper, clean maltiness, very light nuttiness, hint of vanilla, more orange and coriander, really neat.

Taste is similar, a lot of coriander flavour though not too spicy, sweet orange peel and a bit of caramel, wafer/biscuity malt middle, lightly fruity, a touch of apricot and some peach, a bit of vanilla and more orange/coriander, balanced finish.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty neat character going on, nothing is too strong but everything is right there. Coriander is real nice.

Bottle: Poured a clear light amber color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of spices is quite intense and enjoyable with some great fruity ester. The mix of light coriander notes with some orange and a very fruity ester makes this beer an enjoyable experience. Malt backbone is a bit light and non-descript. Body is also a bit light with good carbonation. Very nice and original beer - more body would have been better but still a great treat from a great brewery.

The color of this brew is red/brown with a timid head. Clear liquid. The aroma is caramel malts, spices and some oranges. Nice smell. It could be stronger.

Taste wise, this beer is strong on the caramel malts. I get some fruity notes (oranges?). The bitterness is dry and intense. This feels good in the mouth. Nicely balanced. Delicious. Medium body and so easy to drink. Another good beer from this brewery. This brewery knows what makes good beer. Its not their best, but it is a good one.

As it warms, this brew is excellent. A nicely done lager.

DAMN that bottle was hard to open.

A: Somewhat British looking beer. Very nice reddish copper ale, fully translucent with light beige head. Retention is poor as well as lacing.

S: Strong smell. Definitely strong malt backbone. There are caramel and biscuit-y malts in this. Malty sweetness includes: caramel, molasses, brown sugar and vanilla. There are strong fruits in this: very sweet orange juice, red apples, sweet beet juice, red grapes and pears. Also strong spices: cloves, cinnamon, light pepper, coriander and ginger. Finally, hops: light pineapple, lemon and floral notes. Complex and powerful. Just short of mind blowing.

T: Hoppier than expected. There are quite good amounts of earthy hops, bitter lemon and very light pineapple. Sadly, too much hops for the sake of this beer and not enough residual sugars. The malt tastes are: very dry molasses, vanilla, roasted malts, very toasted bread. Still fruity, but just dry and not sweet: STRONG bitter oranges, dry apple taste. Someone mentioned woody tannins, and there seems to have a lot in this, which also kills a bit the beer (but I would guess they come from the bitter oranges) without the needed sugars. The spices are still there too: cloves, cinnamon, light pepper, coriander and ginger. Just try to think about Cola without any kind of sweetening. Lots of good ideas, just not done as well as expected after the fantastic smell of the beer.

M: Medium feel, but VERY dry because of all the tannins coming from the bitter oranges (I think) with medium carbonation. Somewhat unique feel, but not in a very positive way.

D: Tannins and hops imbalance kill this one, needs more sugars to be correctly balanced and then drinkable.

Sadly, this is the first Trois-Mousquetaires that I don't really enjoy. It is their first time doing this beer and I'm positive next year will have what I look into this beer to be (IMO) much better.

750ml Bottle

Appearance - The beer pours a hazy amber/orange colour with a gigantic size frothy and creamy beige coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation showing and some really nice lacing all over the glass. The head lasted for quite a while before it began to dissipate.

Smell - malts, an earthiness, spruce, hops, grapes, floral notes

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation and it feels creamy on the palette. There are a lot of flavours going on, lots of malts and hops mixed with grapes and spruce. I also picked up on floral notes and an earthiness. It finishes with a malty bitter hop aftertaste.

Drink - I don't think I've ever been disappointed with anything from this brewer. This beer is no exception and I'll be happy to drink it again any time.

Poured this one in my favorite pint.

The color reminds me maple syrup, a light brown/orange color. very small moka head that dissapeared. totally filtred

smells like fresh cereals, malt, caramal, citrus, hop.

Taste is interesting as well. its malty, hoppy, theres citrus, caramal, some spices like corriander.

mouthfeel: its round, theres a light presence of bitterness, acidity of citrus and sweetness caramal. medium carbonation

drinkability is very good. Theres elements of several beer style to create this one.
Its balanced and innovative.

A night at home, having a little dinner and just found out about the Festbier from Les Trois Mousquetaires. I love this Microbrewery and all of its Série Signature.
First time having the Festbier though. A beer made from a series of Quebec malts including : barley, wheat, oats, and rye.

A 750 ml bottle served in a tulip glass, this beer appears to be clear redish to brown colored with orange reflections. Gives a weak white head that doesn't stick for very long. Overall, the appearance is pretty good.

This beer has a powerfull smell, it just blowes your nose with spices and aromas. You get the Bitter Oranges and the coriander but theres more to it...A hint of Ginger there, a scent of cardamom here, toped with spices like cloves and cinnamon. It actually smells like Christmas

Now you want to serve this beer at around 19-20 degres. The Festbier has a creamy texture and low carbonation. Its quite bitter and somehow, it has powerfull woody tannins that covers the spices of the mouthfeel, like chewing woodchips. It seems to me this beer gets harder to enjoy every sip I take. Within a few minutes this beer goes from very good to simply unpleasant. Its pretty disappointing, I was having fun with this beer moments ago and now..I dont really want to finish my glass.
Oh well...

Cheers Lads
