Pretty flawless appearance. A darkish wheat look to it. Big, billowing head. This looks like a prime weissbock. Sadly, my infatuation ended abruptly.
Aroma was mild -- hints of lemon amongst sweet, doughy bread. Taste was annoyingly sweet. I love the sweetest of beers -- fruit beers, strong beers, malty beers -- but I was not at all impressed with the flavor here. The requisite flavor profile was there -- slightly stiff alcohol presence with definite hints of strong, sweet malts and a little lemon and spice. But this was leaning way too heavily on the sweetness. Just no balance at all.
Very creamy mouthfeel. I swear it felt cask-conditioned, and I know they keep two casks at Grizzly Peak. The waitress said it wasn't, so I'll trust her and enter the serving type as "on-tap." But if this were cask-conditioned, I'd rate the mouthfeel much higher. It's far too creamy and milky for a weissbock served on draught. Moderately drinkable at best. Normally, I finish my beers before everyone else. Yesterday, I finished last. *shrug* Just not GP's best offering.
