This beer is a very good attempt to recreate the bitters you get in the pubs in the Yorkshire area of England. Having made a few trips there the last couple of years, I can say this is as close as most American breweries get. They captured the rich maltiness, with a more balanced approach to the hops to malt ratio, as do the Brits. If you like big flavors and hop bombs, this isn't it.
My scores here tend to reflect against other examples of a bitter, as opposed to just an overall score of beer in general. Currently we're the lucky recipients of several breweries in Ann Arbor MI, attempting to recreate the English bitter in their brewpubs. This is the best one of the bunch so far.
