Copenhagen 28/10 2017. 33 cl bottle from Kvickly, Østergade, Middelfart. Very simple label which looks like the cover of a book educating you in the Elegant German Language.
Pours hazy dark amber with small white head. Settles as thin almost transparent layer of foam. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is bittersweet - with the sweetness in the dominant position. Sweet fermented dark fruit, brown sugar, vinous sweetness but accompanied by medium bitterness.
Soft carbonation and thick oily palate
Flavor is heavy sweet without being nauseating. Followed by medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is mostly sweet.
Sweet but not without a decent balance. It would be quite strange to call an Barley Wine easy to drink - but not as heavy as it could have been.

I would not have known this was a Danish beer from the label as the predominant lettering was in English. Beer smelled strongly of the Cascade hops they market on the packaging. Beer was an orangish gold in color with a slightly off white head. Flavor was dominated by a nice hop spice but was sadly lacking in the malt department. I don't even think extra aging would help the malt come out. Mouthfeel was ok lacking a little substance.
