Copenhagen 6/9 2020. 50 cl bottle from Kvickly, Søtorvet, Silkeborg. Grauballe's usual label design with a photo of the beer in a black circle in this case surrounded by blue.
Pours opaque dark brown with a small off-white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet odor of fruit and brown sugar mingling with light sour notes. Brown sugar, caramel and toffee. Sweet plum. Light tartness form the berries.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, soft, smooth texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by a moderate fruity sourness. Lingers for a bit. Finish is semi dry.
Pretty light Stout where the flavoring is subtle and discrete.

M - Medium to full body, slight syrup notes
D- Tasty although the alcohol content is not well hidden making drinkability reduced.

The colour is deep brown, almost black. The head is finger thick, pale brown and compact. Some fine lacing.
The smell is very roasted with some dry spicy notes of herbs/meat, some junipers and alcohol. A little unbalanced; I miss those creamy stout notes.
The taste is a bit odd. The taste is very dry, more like a schwartzbier than a stout Heavily roasted malt with some salt liquorice, fresh and a little spicy hops and a gin-like taste of junipers. The aftertaste is quite thin and short with some salty roasted malt and spiced gin.
The carbonation is very mild with some microscopic bubbles; the liquid is a bit thin. The mild mouth feel makes the subtle notes more clear.
An OK stout, but I had expected some more from this interesting brewery.

330 ml bottle, bought at Mahlers Vinhandel, Frederikshavn, Denmark. Unfiltered. Nearly black colour, large and creamy tan head. Lovely aroma of juniper berries first and foremost, roast malts and dark chocolate in the background. Flavour of roast malts, coffee and dark chocolate, maybe some liquorice too, the juniper berries are around but are not dominant. Moderately sweet, some faint acidic notes in the finish. Fairly bitter aftertaste, both from the roastiness and the hops. An excellent stout in my book, with an unusual but successful addition of juniper berries.

Aroma is a strange to me piney herbal/blueberry smell I assume is juniper berries. Body is a flat black with a slowly receding thumb thick mocha head. Fore is piney/herbal with mild roast elements and a very natually melding of the juniper and standard roast/bitter stout flavors. Nice feel to it, but lacks any semblance of balancing malt sweetness and comes off as a medium, but sustainedly, bitter brew.
