Silkeborg 22/7 2020. 50 cl bottle from Kvickly, Søtorvet, Silkeborg. Grauballe’s usual label design in orange with a goblet of beer.

Pours murky orange with a medium-sized white head. Settles as a thin layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Clinging to the sides of the glass. No lacing.

Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet maltiness and honey mingling with orange zest. Sweet pale malts and cardboard. Light citric tangerine and orange.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily and lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a fairly strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish. Lingers for a bit. Finish is a tad sugary.

More honey than orange zest.

500 ml bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.0%. Ingredients include 2% orange flower honey, E223 and E300. Golden brown colour, big light tan head with an orangey hue. Unusual and initially interesting aroma of orange peel, spices, oak, fermenting fruits and apple cider vinegar, then some less pleasant "industrial" and sulphurous notes take over. The flavour has caramel and some honey sweetness, with notes of orange peel and undefined fruits. Very little bitterness. Props to Grauballe for brewing unusual beers, but this one doesn't blow my socks off.
