Copenhagen 10/8 2018. 50 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen. White and austere label telling me that this is a variant of their Hay base beer with cherries added. In addition it’s supposed to be produced using local ingredients and involving spontaneous fermentation.
Very explosive upon opening with a solid “pop” and beer gushing all over the place. Pours hazy dark, deep red with a pink head. Settles as a patchy remnants of foam. No lacing.
Aroma is quite fresh and intense. Subdued sweetness from the cherries. Strong acerbic, tart, sourness. Unripe sour berries. Vinegar.
Strong carbonation. Thin, watery and lively, prickly texture which suits it well.
Flavor is lightly sweet followed by stronger sourness. Aftertaste is sour but rather short.
Fine Lambic-inspired beer very much on the sour side.
