The ingredients in Rugøl are inspired by old Danish beer traditions. A top-fermented beer, brewed with rye malt, and added local honey. The rye makes Rugøl round and full-bodied with a distinctive malt flavor, and the honey contributes aromatic sweetness. The hops create balance by providing just the right amount of bitterness and a touch of citrus in the aftertaste.
Rugøl is a relaunched version of our Gorms Bryg.
Rugøl is excellent for grilling, among other things. Also try marinating meat in Rugøl before grilling it.

Copenhagen 11/12 2016. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh. Ø. No nonsense label with ornaments declaring this to be a Rye Beer. Well - compared to a Hay beer this sounds quite safe.
Pours hazy dark brown with an off-white head. Settles as a thin almost transparent layer of foam. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is malty and a bit sweet. Fruity - almost like lemonade. Hints of honey.
Medium strong carbonation and watery palate.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by a coarse bitterness. Lingers in the aftertaste. A quite strange bitter-sour lemonade.
A little watery but not without merit.
