Pours a hazy dark chocolate brown color with dark murky golden orange hues and a half finger off white head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing ledt behind.
Funky, earthy aroma with a strong barrel presence. Lots if earthy oak with a touch of vanilla. Acetic with a vinegar and barnyard presence. Lots of cherry along with other day berries and a surprising malt presence.
Slightly funky, vinegary flavor with a puckering tart mouthfeel. Lots of sour cherry and earthy oak with a strong malty character underneath. Vinegary acetic acid in the finish. Decently balanced with some complexity but not as sour and/or flavorful as I expected.

A big thanks to bosse for this one - 375ml swing-top bottle with a best before of 1/1/2016. I'm guessing that means this was from 2006? Served in a Hopleaf tulip glass.
A - The swing-top opens with a loud pop and tons of gunsmoke. This is a slow gusher, so have your glass ready. Pours with a voluminous tan head that dissipates fairly quickly to a ring and some light haze. Murky brown body.
S - The smell is wonderful - lactic sourness, cherries, pedio and acetic acid, and spicy woodiness. However, the brown part of the beer is still present and provides a solid malt backbone that is complemented by some light vanilla from the wood. Very good balance and integration at this stage.
T - The taste is not as good, but still quite enjoyable. Much mellower, without the same intensity of flavors found in the nose. Drinks more like a funky brown with well-integrated tart and lactic sour notes. Finish is surprisingly clean, and slightly tannic.
M - Medium body that is sufficiently big for the ABV, Very tingly, perhaps too much so at this point, but never verges on harsh. There's some light residual stickiness as well, and only the lightest hint of woodiness.
D - I had a couple pours of this one, and could definitely have finished the bottle on my own. It gets a little acidic after a while, but never strays into tiring or off-putting territory. I'd have this one again if it ever popped up on my radar. Maybe Beer Here will make something like this down the road.
