Had on tap at the brewhouse in Tromso. Smooth and creamy, and lightly spiced. Relatively light for a Christmas beer. I'd like more body, more spice, and have it be a little stonger. Still, it hit the spot.

February 2005: This one has traditionally been the thinnest of Norwegian "klasse F" Christmas beers - the brewery will probably make a darker version this year. Not as bad the ratings in Norwegian newspapers tell you.

.33L bottle poured into a pint glass. Best before date on the bottle of 8 Oct 2010. Granted I am drinking this about a month after, but the beer was stored properly and appears at first blush to be in good shape. My first Christmas beer of the season (although this one is left over from last year's stash)!

Nice pour--two fingers of cream colored head atop a clear ruby/orange amber colored beer. Looks like the head has good sticking quality as well. Nice lacing!

Pleasant smell to this Christmas beer--like a freshly baked holiday cake. I also smell some holiday spices, like ginger, clove, cinnamon and perhaps nutmeg. Also seems to be a little berry fruit aroma in there as well. Very inviting.

The taste is very pleasing. Definitely captures many of the smells, a complex mixture of Christmas flavor delights. Delicious malt qualities impart the tastes of freshly baked pastries. Finishes with some holiday berry fruit qualities. In between there are those holiday spices that are making me think of sugar plum fairies dancing in my head. Again, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon. A collection of all those smells and tastes that remind me of childhood holiday memories. As it warms, this beer becomes slightly sweeter--some brown sugar/molasses flavors.

Very smooth mouthfeel. Nice carbonation. As it warms becomes smoother and develops more of a syrupy quality. Time has been kind to this Christmas beer. Very drinkable. Nice option for a fireside chat.
