.5L Bottle purchased from the Vinmonopolet in Stavanger. Best before date on the cap says 09.03.12. Nice fizz/pop when I pry off the cap. Poured into a tulip snifter. Pours a somewhat cloudy gold. The head was initially about one finger of white foam, but it fizzed away into nothingness in almost record time. No lacing on the glass.

Aroma is kind of barnyard like--hay and horses. Some mild hop and malt aromas. Let's move on.

The taste is a touch of banana and pepper up front followed by an almost overpowering lemon/orange one-two punch. I get some slight metallic notes. Somewhat of an astringent finish.

Mouthfeel is OK. Its carbonation is fine for the style--lively and crisp. Overall, I applaud Mack for making an effort to produce a Hefeweizen. Not many Norwegian brewers are doing this style. Compared to the classics in Germany, however, it has a ways to go.

May 2011: 500 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.0%. Some sediment in the bottle. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Typical hefeweizen aroma of ripe bananas and cloves, hints of citrus. Refreshing medium sweet flavour, strong notes of cloves, hints of banana and citrus. Very moderate hops. Thumbs up for Mack - this is a respectable hefeweizen, no more, no less.
