Pours clear red into a glass from a bottle. Offwhite head diminishes to surface froth after a moment.
Aroma is mild, and reminiscent of grapefruit with a slight lemon and orangeness. There is a slight undertone of earthyness and fresh herbs, but it's well beneath the surface.
Flavour is very earthy, grainy and musty but there's some red grapefruit and blood orange in the citrusy notes. This ale is bittersweet and a little rusty but very well balanced, with more barley making up the aftertaste.
Feel is medium bodied, slightly carbonated and has a dry finish.
Overall this is a well balanced beer with equal parts sweet and bitter.
