Islands Brygge 25/6 2016. 33 cl can at a family party. Danish discount beer bought at the bordershop in Germany. Black can with a red seal to make it look ancient and dignified.
Pours clear yellow with a white head. Stable. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is sweetish caramel with a metallic sour edge. Toffee and a hint of alcohol.
Medium strong carbonation and a watery palate. Lively texture.
Flavor has a subdued sweetness and a more pronounced bitterness. Aftertaste is a little chemical with something resembling burnt plastic.
Nice with a discount beer which is actually bitter - but I could do without the burnt plastic.

Pours a light amber, brief fizzy eggshell head, little retention and streaky lacing. Nose is mild, light hop, malt, spice; maybe a little raw green cabbage, but not too strong or objectionable when cold. Taste is equally mild; light toffee, corn, cereal, mild earthy hop. Mouthfeel is clean, moderate, with crisp carbonation. Not great, but this beer is severely underrated.

The beer is dark brass colored (note: dye added), an off-white semi high head that settles rather quickly, but leaves some lacing.
The smell has sweet corn flakes and boiled vegetables as dominant traits. No sour notes, a whiff of bitterness.
Starting with some refined pure sugar taste, corn flakes, a slightly sour orange note, some alkaline bitterness. A hint of ammonia. In general very little taste.
Very little carbonation, flat and a thin body, some dryness at least.
Sorry, even if this was a gift, I can't really appreciate this beer per se. The gift I appreciate however!
