Part of a sampler at the brewery - this is a 9.0% ABV beer...and you knew it! Very very sharp alcoholic taste, with not much other flavor to cover it, so I was not impressed with the drinkability. The smell was pretty good though, with some slight apple or fruit tones. Poured dark brown and with a thick long-lasting head.

A - It had a dark brown, almost black color with a foamy, one-finger head. It leaves some nice lacing.

S - It smelled malty and oaky.

T - It tasted very woody, grassy and malty. It had a slight hop bitterness.

M - It was fairly crisp and medium-bodied.

D - This is a very good beer. It is strong and very flavorful.
