Perfectly clear amber hue with good head retention. The slightly toffeeish Munich malt aroma is accompanied by a pleasant Hallertauer nose. The more pronounced hop character is definitely a plus. The aroma lacks the melaniodin complexity that German Marzens have, but I have yet to try a U.S. microbrewed version that does, however. The taste is very clean in overall profile, and is dominated by toasty malt flavors. Hop flavor is fairly high for style, hop bitterness is right on. Finishes w/ residual sweetness and slight alcohol warmrth. Well brewed and clean, just lacks the malt complexity of German versions. Like other LABCO brews, it's a little too drinkable for the alcohol content.
