Virtually jet black. Trace clear crimson hue around the edge of the glass when held to light. Head quickly dissipates into a thin tan rim around the glass. Mild roasted barley, bittersweet chocolate and burnt caramel, combined with butterscotch and heaty alcohol in aroma. Underwhelming, but clean aromawise. Dark roasted grain bitterness upfront in flavor. Dark caramel sweetness eeks in, then is offset by moderate hop bitterness and mellow dark, raisny fruitness. Lightly bready, toasty grain sweetness emerges late. Lightly bodied, almost thin for style, but uniquely quaffable. Faint citrusy hop flavor undertone. Finishes w/ simply bittersweet residual sugar and roasted grain combination. Certainly not an assertive or complex imperial. Somewhat over attenuated. It's main strength lies in its absolutely dangerous drinkability. It's very easy to down a couple mugs of this...
