Draft offering at Bullfrog. This is a hybrid sort of Octoberfest meets Hefeweizen so I added it under what seemed most appropriate: dunkelweizen. "Brewed with 100% barley to fit the malty flavor profile of a Marzen but fermented with a hefeweizen yeast strain." The brew appears a clouded amber color with an off-white cap.
The aroma is muted but what does emit from the glass smells of caramel and toffee malt sweetness. There are at times hints of a sort of neutral fruit addition.
The taste is sweet and malty with a minor uittery cream note. The buttery sweetness breaks up with a hint of clove from the yeast. Towards the back it is quite grassy with a strange veggy to fruit flavor.
This is a medium bodied brew with a light to modest amount of carbonation. It is an interesting brew that just doesnt transcribe well. Octoberfest or Hefeweizen...ok but hefefest or Octoberweizen is just as bad as it sounds. Not reccomended.
