Pours a cloudy dark chestnut brown color with mahogany edges and a two finger off-white head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Excellent retention taking a while to settle with large streaks of soapy lacing left behind.
Floral aroma with prominent earthy and musty barnyard funk countered by vinous fruit sweetness and caramel malt. Subtle roast which is a nice counter to the funky saison/farmhouse character. Wet earth, hay, straw and grass along with funky bugs. Carmel, toffee and dark berry sweetness.
Lighter end of medium body and thinner than expected with tight carbonation and peppery spice that compliments the funky must and earthy farmhouse/saison notes. Slightly peppery with zesty clove flavor followed by a grassy, earthy quality. Some funky yeast and sourdough bread toward the finish. Vinous notes found in nose are faint and don't really show until it warms. Was expecting a fuller body, stronger funk and more vinous berries. Slightly dry and toasted with some caramel, toffee and light chocolate sweetness. Decent complexity but a little bit of a let down. There's a touch of acidic of sourness but this beer needs more funk and vinous fruit sweetness for my preference.
