Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a golden amber color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite heavy of a sweet tropical fruit aroma with tons of pineapple along with some tangerine, mango and papaya. Along with these aromas are some other smells of a grapefruit hop as well some yeasty and light grainy aroma as well as hints of a peach and pear aroma.
Taste – The taste begins with a tropical fruit flavor of pineapple, tangerine, and a bit of mango with a rather bready base. Some lighter hop flavors of a grapefruit and grassy nature are present upfront with the grapefruit really gaining strength as the taste advances. The tropical fruit flavors, all the while, seem to increase in strength with the grapefruit hop really coming on strong more toward the end of the taste. Some flavors of a pine hop also join the profile late on, leaving one with a rather tropical fruity and decently hopped (mostly citrusy) flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess for a brew of 8 % abv. with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Overall a rather decent feel for the mix of tropical fruits and citrusy hop of the brew.
Overall – A pretty decent DIPA. Lots of sweeter tropical and citrus flavors and just enough breadiness to balance it all out.
