Cherry is subtle, smoke is noticeable, hefe yeast seems to add one too many flavors to the mix

- German beechwook smoked barley and oak smoked wheat fermented with a hefeweizen yeast strain and finished with sour cherries.
- Growler from brewpub. consumed within 8hrs of pour.
(3.65) A: Pale orange coloring, obstructed clarity, isolated instances of macro-effervesce rises at a rapid rate. The head is skimpy, almost non-forming when poured from the growler.
(3.55) S: Aroma was light smoked bacon and ham, a bit of smoked cherry skins and toasted orange peels.
(3.65) T: Flavor was lightly smoked cherry skins, ham, toasted oranges and toasted malt sweetness. Smoky oak chips with a very light presence of banana yeastiness and sweet barley and wheat on the finish. Some light oranges and very light smokiness.
(3.55) M: Sticky, syrupy mouthful, medium bodied with almost no effervesce detection.
(3.65) O: Overall the sour cherries added at the finish were not as dominant as i expected them to be. The smoked nature was also very reserved as well the hefe-yeast strength. Still this is a very smooth drink, very clean, with a good drink-ability. I just wished they were a bit daring with this as the description of a smoked cherry-hefe gave me bigger expectations flavor, yeast and smoke wise then maybe delivered, but this doesn't mean this is a bad beer, just a bit reserved per my expectations.
