Poured into chalice: color is like of a thick rose, light purple on the edge, darker purple in the center; head presents quickly and dissipates before you can take a drink.

Smell is a little funk, a little earthy dryness, a little sweetness and even some butteriness (diacetyl?) - but its enticing and different.

Taste is similar to the aroma, but more oakiness - earthy, lighter funk, semi-sweet, semi-dry. and some moderate diacetyl, I think. Now, I'm not sure how to take that flavor - it seems to play really well with everything else and I'm wondering if this is a byproduct of the use of their barrels more than once, if they do. The beer flavor is one for deciphering and learning subtleties of barrel aged beers.

Mouthfeel is sweet and dry, good interplay of sour and sweet presence with a lingering softness.

Overall a good beer, a good mix-up of the base style which has a bit more sour/funkiness while this seems to take on more oakey softness.

On tap at Bullfrog Brewery in Williamsport, NY.

This one pours a dark purplish color, with a small head, and no lacing.

That dirty, dirty funk that's present in the base comes through here as well- it's earthy, minerally, with lots of oak on the nose, and rotten lemon, with slightly sweet red grapes as well.

This is really quite delicious. The funk is great here, dry, musty and super earthy and dirty, wih a nice sweetness from the grapes cutting across it. It's super oaky, like a lot of Bullfrog sours, with a sharp acidic kick on the finish.

This is light bodied, and very crisp, with a long lingering sourness.

This is pretty wonderful- I love the base Old Gold, and any fruits added to it are going to creat some interesting nuances.
