L: Had this beer on-tap at Capital Ale House - Midlothian, poured into a snifter glass. Had a golden yellow color and a clear texture. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly dissipated. Average lacing.

S: A decent aroma of Belgian yeast, coconut, pineapple, and malt as well.

T: Tasted of a moderate amount of coconut, a good shot of pineapple, some light malt notes (mainly in the finish), a bit of Belgian yeast, a little citrus, and some other light fruits. An interesting flavor, mainly due the inclusion of the coconut and pineapple. Sweeter, lighter and less yeasty than a typical tripel, but it still works.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a zesty finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: A solidly made, light and sweet American version of a tripel. Tasty and drinkable.

-Belgian tripel rested on fresh coconut and pineapple. Served in chalice from tap @ location.

A: Beautiful pineapple yellow with no head formation. Hazy. Love the bright golden pineapple coloring here, really pops in the vessel.

S: The nose was fresh coconut cream pie. Some pineapple and creamy banana yeastiness was also easy to pick out. There was almost a Belgian candy sweetness to this, perhaps from additives to increase abv%. Nose was big, creamy & sweet, loving the fresh coconut pie aroma and pineapple influence. A darling to smell.

T: Flavor followed closely to the nose, a big creamy coconut cream pie taste, almost dessert like, supplemented with fresh pineapple and a creamy banana yeastiness. Creamy malts add sweetness along with oranges and tropical fruit influences. Wet flavor, finishes dry, with some Belgian rock candy sweetness and pineapple flair. Some lemony hints rounds things out.

M: Mouthful was creamy smooth, soft carbonation.

O: Overall I like the adventure that Bullfrog put into this. Tripels are known to be spicy(peppery) and dry, with a sometimes burning alcohol content. This one had creamy sweet attributes from the coconut and pineapple and lets this drink like a dessert style without much notice given to the 9.0% due to its sweetness. Others may argue not true to style, but beers are getting more adventurous nowadays and blurring the lines. I consider this a nice twist to style bringing a new range of flavor aspect, from something old and traditional. There-fore I am not holding this to any stringent guidelines by Belgian style tripel regards, as I consider this more of a hybrid and rating on pure like and concept intention alone. If you are seeking a traditional style tripel, you may not fare well here, but rather if you like something sweet and creamy, and if coconut and pineapple are your thing, then by all means indulge. Again like a creamy coconut meringue pie in a glass.
