Picked up a growler: poured into a goblet style glass, color is amber, head is tan with fine bubbles, head presents at least 1 inch thick and dissipates to a thin top.
Smell is very pleasant with heavy munich malt aromas - moderate toast, toffee, grape like quality; light herbal and grassy hops.
Taste follows the aroma with pleasant munich and similar malts, light toffee, toast, grape like flavors; abv is hidden well it seems; hops are subtle but present enough to counter malt depth.
Mouthfeel is a bit dryer than some other doppelbocks, i wouldn't characterize it as smooth but its also 8+%; otherwise moderate carbonation, stronger lingering presence.
Overall a very good doppelbock, one of the better new beers from the bullfrog recently - keep the strong lagers coming.
