On tap.

Poured a deep and cloudy / murky golden color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of blackberries, berries, light cloves, bananas, and some citrus. Tastes of blackberries, light wheat, and lightly fruity. The blackberry was done nicely (subtle and added to the overall experience).

This is a fine Hefewiezen but there is no point wasting time calling it a blackberry hefewiezen and it is extremely misleading. I think our friends at Bull Frog either forgot to add something or sent our friend Matt Capone the wrong Keg. Seriously, if you are going to call it a Blackberry Hefe then I want to taste the *Blackberry*; not just a hint of nebulous berry and slight fruit in the aftertaste.

Appearance: Nice orange colored Hefe. A bit of an amber hue but no real berry presence. The head is white and thick with some spotty lace.

Smell: A reserved Hefe aroma of bananas and yeast with wheat and it takes a lot of digging and stretching of the imagination to find the berry in it.

Taste: Sweet. Wheat and nice yeast bubmlegum sweet and spicy with a touch of pear and hint of hops and *VERY* very little berry in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Creamy and smooth. Refreshing.

Drinkability: This is a simple easy drinking Hefe with which I would have been much more pleased had they not tried to pass it off as a Blackberry Hefe-Weizen.

Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!

On tap at Capone's...
Appears a hazy, peach toned gold with a small, fluffy white, velvet cap that slowly fades out. Scattered streaks of lacing are left all over the glass.
Smell is yeasty, wheaty, lemony zest, blackberry presence, light tartness, mild bubblegum.
Taste is about the same as the aromas with a nice mix of yeasty, berries, and bubblegum flavors, along with some doughy bread.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, yeasty, fruity, and estery.

I sampled this at Capone's.
A - Cloudy amber w/ golden highlights and a thin white head.

S - The aroma nods to traditional hefe with banana and clove esters w/ the faintest hint of berry.

M - Full, creamy feel w/ a slight berry sweetness and nutty spicy feel.

T - Full on weisse flavor well done and plenty of sweet wheat malt w/ a traditional hefe yeast flavor. Hardly any blackberry taste, but there is a gentle tinge of fruit there if you search for it.

D - A very drinkable ale, but filling with the creamy texture. I consider it worth a try for a taste or two. It doesn't knock you out w/ blackberry, which is good, but perhaps a pinch more wouldn't hurt. I enjoyed the hefeweizen flavor this had to offer, it is a refreshing beer. Great for quaffing.
