Had on tap at the brewery
A-pours a cloudy murky deep yellow liquid with a pure white head.
S-the nose is very nice, some banance, lots of clove, notes of bubblegum, more spice, pepper and clove.
T-sweet up front, notes of bubblegum and banana, touch of ripe lemon, lots of sweet flavor, the spice is behind, good peppery spice to it!
M-thick body, full and chewy, grainy feel but soft on the tongue, strong carbonation balancing out the big body.
D-huge flavors, great balance, a little dry in the back would have been nice, but a fantastic hefe,

Had this on tap at the brewpub on a recent trip back to PA. Review is from notes taken on 7/16/2010 and poured from the tap to a pint glass.
Appearance: Pour is a lemony yellow with some darker shades in the center; starts with a 1/4 finger white head that fadfes to a thin, but full, cap with a thick ring around the surface; body is very cloudy and it leaves some spots of lacing hanging around.
Smell: Tons of cloves right up front, with a sweet banana fruitiness right behind them; the nose is quite robust, and rounds out with a bit of a chamomile and honey tea aspect.
Taste: Much like the nose, the clove presence abounds, while the banana flavors find more of a presence in the mouth than they did in the nose; a bit of a warming chamomile and spiced/honey tea rounds out the flavors; overall, this is kind of a unique hefeweizen and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
Mouthfeel: Body is close to medium weight and the carbonation is strong and prickly, even bordering on sharp; a thin, dry sticky coating is left on the roof of the mouth; gums are left tingly and the belly is left warm, which is a little odd since the ABV is just above 5%.
Drinkability: This is really an all-day kind of beer -- great scents and flavors and a body that isn't especially heavy and comes along with a moderate ABV, could easily be sipped on all summer long.

Growler. 7-15-09.
A: Poured a bright near pastel tangerine color with a flat 1 finger foamy head that was dull white in color and lacking in retention. A good deal of haze and turbidity with a sporadic showing of macro carbonation bubbles trickle up every now and then. Good points for the haziness and coloring but the lack of retention and lacing hinders things a bit here.
S: a moderate display of wheat, bananas, clove-honey, and bubblegum. Some fresh oranges were also detected. A decent aroma but unfortunately falls a bit short of what I would consider good here.
T: The flavor was tart and citric with oranges against a pale wheat malting. Was not as spicy or strong yeast wise as I was expecting. Fairly clean with a semi-tart orange peel flavor that comes and goes without much regards. The finish finds the aromatic aspects of bananas, cloves and bubblegum but were more subtle and perhaps a bit muddled here.
M: medium and creamy with a silky smoothness, lacking much carbonation. Maybe the lack of carbonation here is the culprit behind the lackluster aroma and flavor here. Definitely lacks a crispness and sharpness of an Ayinger or Weihenstephaner. Not saying that every hefe has to be this, but is the standard by which I judge this style, and unfortunately the mouthful comes off muddled as well.
D: Good enough to consume, but didn't wow me in the process. Bought a growler of this but probably wont miss this as much as I would of if I purchased the pilsner which was outstanding. Maybe im damaged goods since I recently tasted the Sierra Nevada Kellerweise a day or so before this. Overall you can give this a try but wouldn't recommend the growler, taste it by the glass first.

A-Super hazy, almost milky. Orangish, yellow-amber with a medium white head that reduced to a thin film leaving nice lace.
S-Initial spiciness followed by light lemon a touch of banana and hints of bubblegum.
T-Spice clove with some lemon and undertones of banana. A surprisingly sharp hop bite at the end. Finish is fairly dry/chalky.
M-Medium-light body with a nice lingering spiciness and a smooth finish.
D-Good, this is not as citrusy as I like, but this is not a fault just a personal preference. This hefe is more spice up front. This brew is a nice version, just not my version.
