On cask at Bullfrog Brewery on 8/16/08. Beer menu listed this as an organic brew with an ABV of 4.2%.
A - Clear copper-colored body with a slightly rusty tinge and a rich, creamy alabaster head that held up quite well and left some decent lacing. Very nice clarity for a cask ale.
S - Caramel malt abounds with hints of cocoa, molasses, vanilla and a very slight smokey character. Overall, the nose is quite subtle.
T - Malt, malt and more malt. And did I mention malt? Yup, this is one malty concoction with primarily a caramel character and hints of chocolate and vanilla as well as subtle woody and smokey notes.
M - Medium body with a smooth, creamy texture. Extremely soft and velvety on the palate. Finish is sweet with very minimal bitterness. Served at the perfect cask temperature.
D - Very nice cask offering from Bullfrog. Malt forward for sure, but not too sweet at all. Could use a bit of a hop presence just to kick it up a notch, but still nice and very enjoyable to drink.
