750ml bottle into flute on 10/17/08. Thanks to mughugger for sharing this at a recent tasting. This is a review of the bottled version that has been infused with Brettanomyces.
A - Deep earthy amber/copper-colored body with half a finger of off-white head and moderate amount carbonation.
S - Fruity and sour nose with an earthy character that imparts a slight mustiness. Dark fruit with cherry and berry notes.
T - Earthy, musty flavor with quite a bit of sourness from the Brett and an apparent yeasty quality. Sour fruit flavors emerge with hints of tart black cherry and figs.
M - Prickly and warm mouthfeel with a sour finish. Feel is acidic with a mild burn on the tongue.
D - Interesting dubbel from Bullfrog, and also my first sample of their bottled offerings. I actually think this benefits from the addition of the Brett, as I enjoyed the sourness of this brew. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to try this one.

A special bottling of Friar Frog Dubbel done with Brettanomyces.
A-Slightly hazy bright copper with a light tan head that held on nicely and ledt spotty lace.
S-Fairly light aroma overall. Musty notes prevail initially followed by sweet malt and a bit of sour twang.
T-Good amount of sweet malt upfront that is quickly followed and tempered by a wave of tart sour goodness. Earthy Belgian yeast notes come through in the background. This is very nice.
M-Medium-light in body with a very crisp and sharp finish. Sour notes present but not to a mouth puckering level.
D-Very nicely done. Terry has become very proficient in the art of using Brett. This one is another winner of taking a regular lineup Bullfrog beer and making a sour work of art out of it. Nice and malty with a sour twang....nice.
