On tap at the Bullfrog Brew Pub.
Poured a medium to dark reddish-brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Tasted like a nice amber ale then the subtle smokey smell and taste (not over powering) came through. I liked the subtle side in this one...

Reviewed on 10/27/08. On tap at the brewpub. Pours an opaque-ish dark amber with a small white head. Aroma of smoked firewood (faint) and sweet amber malt. Flavor of charred smoked meats. Not too smoked, just right, and not too oppressive either. Light-bodied.

Based on the Rauchbiers of Bamburg, Germany this amber ale is a ale hybrid of the true German style.
A-Bright copper with a thin tan head that left little lace.
S-Light hickory smoke aroma and a bit of sweet malt.
T-Rauch-like with a rich toffee-like maltiness and pleasant hints of smoke. The smoke isn't to heavy but without question present and very tasty.
M-Medium-light bodies with lingering sweet malt and smokey flavours. A mild tart twang in the aftertaste.
D-Well, as I have said before in other smoked beer reviews, I am a sucker for a properly done smoked beer and this is certainly one. I could put down pint after pint of this one.
