On tap @ the brewpub on 10/2/09. Served in a tulip glass.
Pours a deep hazy amber, with a finger of smooth mocha colored head. Rich retention around the edges, leaves back a thick cascade of frothy lacing. The aroma has a pronounced tart sharpness to it, but this is softened some by the tang of herbal hops, citrus, and bread. A light smokey texture floats throughout, giving this a nice pungency in the nose.
The taste is quite tangy overall in the mouth with bready sweetness and citrus flavors, while the Brett adds a tart crispness and overall intensity to the profile. A flush of meaty tasting smoke and roastiness pulls up the back, as this finishes dryly. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a big mouth-filling creaminess to it. An extremely slick texture runs through as well, giving this a much easier drinkibility than what I originally thought this was going to have based on the pungency of flavors involved.
Crisp and interesting, this has a big Bretty tartness to it, but an equally big sweet and smokey tanginess that helped pull it back. Really well done balance between the contrasting styles here. This "Gone Wild" entry is a win.

Pours a deep dark amber/ coppery chestnut brown color with golden amber/orange edges when held to a light source and a 1.5 finger yellowish beige head with good retention, lasting throughout and leaving sporadic chunks of lacing.
Slightly earthy aroma with nice caramel malt, smokey charcoal, roasted malt, nut, barbecue, bacon with some earthy, twangy funky sour brett notes.
Sweet up front with subtle light fruit notes and a nice funky tart dry brett effervescence that lingers into the finish over a nice charcoal barbecue smokiness which provides a nice balance. This beer is very complex and well balanced. A unique blend of two of my favorite styles. Recommended.

Sweet up front with subtle light fruit notes and a nice funky tart dry brett effervescence that lingers into the finish over a nice charcoal barbecue smokiness which provides a nice balance. This beer is very complex and well balanced. A unique blend of two of my favorite styles. Recommended.

An American amber with the addition of smoked malt then aged with an addition of brett--->WTF?!
A-Deep copper with a thin tan head that reduced to a thin veil and left spotty lace.
S-Smoky and tart, very interesting. Like a smoked sausage with sauerkraut!
T-Tart zing up front with a light, smoky smoothness underneath. Smooth, with a wonderful, complex melding of flavours
M-Medium-light body, very complex with nice lingering flavours. A dry, cabernet sauvignon type finish.
D-So complex, interesting and odd it works! Awesome stuff. Sometimes the craziest things work....this one sure did!
