On tap at the brewpub. Arrived in an upside down pear shaped glass. Appears a clear crimson amber color with about a finger of quickly fading light tan foam. Nose and flavors are of toasted bread, candi sugar, fruity, spicy yeast, cherries, bittersweet chocolate, clove, malty, slightly smokey. Medium in both body and carbonation. A lot of flavor going on here. Glad I tried it.

A: On tap in a Goblet style glass at the brewery. Not much of a head on this one, not too much in the way of lacing either. Pours a very dark brown color with hints of amber, letting through little to no light.

S: Aroma brings the mildly spicy yest up front, followed by some roasted malt notes and a little bit of dark fruits.

T: My first thought is the yeast here kind of reminds me of Chimay, that is the flavor that I pick up on first. Further back are hints of dark fruits and dark chocolates.

M: Fairly thin and dry but still coats the pallet nicely.

D: Being so light and with such a low ABV this one goes down nicely. I would certainly order it again. I love pairing this type of beer with beef and/or bleu cheese, so it went great with Bullfrog's Bleu Ring Burger.

A dark Belgian yes...but more like a Belgian Dark Mild. The little brother of Saison Noire.

A-Deep, dark copper kissed, clear brownish black with a thin tan head that reduces to a thin cap and left spotty lace.

S-Roasted biscuit malt, noticeable dryness and a pleasant cherry aroma in the background.

T-Light and dry with backing dark fruit notes with dark cherry dominating. Backing notes of mellow raisin, roasted biscuit malt and a tickle of cocoa powder.

M-Light bodied, dry and sharp with an astringent ending. Flavours hang on strong for such a light feeling brew.

D-As it has been noted before, I love light, low ABV beers that are interesting and packed with flavour. Well, this one brings it and then some. A seriously easy drinking, pleasant and palate pleasing brew.
