A special blend of a barrel-aged Belgian strong ale (65%) and Edgar IPA (35%). Made for the Bullfrog Brewers Dinner at AuRants in Duryea, PA 3/21/10.
A-Hazy orange copper with a thin off-white head that dissipated to a wispy veil and left spotty lace.
S-Oak barrel notes with a light twang of sourness in the background. Touch of fruit and sweet toffee hiding between the oak planks.
T-Sweet caramel and toffee up front with a supporting zip of tart fruit with a mysterious blast of citrus rind thanks to the Edgar addition. Ends with a building hoppy zip and dryness.
M-Medium bodied with complimenting tartness, hop dryness and lingering flavours.
D-An interesting blend. The combination of flavours work very well. With the fruit and wood of the old ale melding nicely with the bitter citrus rind thanks to the Edgar. A pleasant treat.
