This is the Kegs Gone Wild version of Citra-Delic Wheat.
The Citra-Delic Wheat Gone Wild has a body that is hazy, cloudy and golden-yellow colored. The head settles slowly into a collar that has good retention and lacing.
The aroma has a ton of brett character to it. Very musty and horsey, tart, and a little fruity. A good amount of hops are present also, and they are both grassy and citrus. Just a bit of wheat and light bread are in the background also.
The Brett character that dominated the aroma is very strong in the taste, but not nearly as overwhelming. A lot of funky dryness comes through, with a good bit of sourness and some light fruits. The wild yeast characteristics are great, very well done. The brett mixes nicely with a large hop profile that adds juicy citrus flavors, a hint of leafy hops and a moderate to light amount of bitterness. The beer is rounded out by a wheat backbone that adds a little bit of twang and some light bread flavors.
The mouthfeel is surprisingly full for a wild, but about the level of creaminess I would expect from a pretty good wheat beer.
This beer is very good. It reminds me of a mix of Gumballhead and Ithaca Super Friends. I really enjoy beers that mix hops and wild yeast together well. I went to the Bullfrog with the intention of trying two different beers, but I ended up just ordering two of these.
