New Old Stock has a reddish brown body with a spindly head that leaves a little bit of lacing behind without having very much retention.

The aroma is good, with a touch of hops, a lot of caramel and other malt flavors, and just a hint of tartness. A lot of fruit comes through in the aroma as well.

The flavor is complex and pretty good in my opinion. The mix of old and new beer is evident here with the inclusion of some bright hops that come with a fresh beer and some very mellow, caramel and sherry flavors that you would expect out of an aged beer. The malt is definitely the more powerful flavor here though, with lots of fruit characteristics to go along with it. In addition, there is a good bit of tartness in the background of this one, which is to be expected considering it has been aging with wild yeast for a couple of years.

The carbonation is a little bit too low, and the beer a little bit lighter than I would expect, but neither of these is disastrous for the beer overall.

New Old Stock is interesting and pretty tasty. It's amazing how quickly I finished it too. This is definitely worth a try if you like a bit of tartness thrown into your beer.

Thanks to tenderbranson69 for sharing this growler, enjoyed chilled in a snifter.

The color is a dark brown shade with hazed clarity and quick dropping head of beige which falls to a ring. The smell has a slight fruit note with dark sugar and fig with a mild spice and subtle nutty odor with stone fruit notes and lots of caramel malt esters with mild vinous scent. The feel is a little thin for the style, but ample sweetness and light toast with subtle spice and gentle woody tannin w/ subtle alcohol and mostly dry finish with mild to moderate carbonation.

I really like the way the smell carries over into the flavor with good malt up front and dark brown sugar with slight vanilla tinge and moderately caramel sweetness with touches of fig w/ dense creamy and sweet taste that gets spicy w/ light pine tinge and mild plum like taste. The finish has a good deal of complexity with light vinous end. Overall a great blend of ales - the young and old combine to create a nice balance -the complexity is very nice with a very drinkable finished product. I was surprised at how easy this drinks for the strength, very nicely balanced.
