Served on tap in a chalice glass

Appearance – The beer is served a clear orange amber color with a one finger head of billowy white foam. The head fades rather quickly leaving a light level of foamy rings of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is very nice consisting of lots of banana and wheat as well as some smells of cherry and a little bit of a funky smell. A light yeast joins the aroma profile with some other light aromas of mango and papaya to create a sweet and fruity smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a crisp wheat taste with a moderately sweet cherry flavor. As the flavor advances the wheat remains the same, but the cherry transitions to a more sour like flavor. Toward the end the sourness is nicely accentuated by some funky and grassy tastes. While the cherry transitioned to a sour cherry, some sweet cherry seems to sneak its way back in at the very end along with some light tropical fruit flavors to leave a nice fruity saison flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Both are fantastic for the mix of wheat, sweet and sour fruit, and funk all while also keeping it very crisp in nature.

Overall – A quite enjoyable fruity saison. Quite enjoyable.

On tap at Pin's.

Poured slightly hazy, pale golden-yellow in color, with a thin white head that sank to a thin ring of bubbles around the rim; minimal lacing. Aroma of dry, toasted wheat, cherry candy. The taste was similar, sweet cherry, candyish, toasted wheat, crackery pale malts. Light body, easily drinkable, sweet, but not syrupy, thus pretty refreshing. Wasn't what I'd call a kriek or a saison, but it was a decent fruity wheat beer.

Description from their website: "A light bodied dry and citrusy farmhouse ale. Brewed with a portion of unmalted wheat, fermented with a blend of three south belgian yeasts and aged montmorency cherries."

Growler secured this past weekend and consumed shortly after. Poured into a pils glass, the brew appears a clouded amber almost a redish hue about it. A white head holds shortly leaving some spotty lacing effect.

The smell includes a lot of wheat sweet grainy quality that mixes with cherry. It gets slightly medicinal when combined in the bose with mild alcohol but overall this is a nice smelling fruit beer that is very natural smelling. I dont however pick up on the described layerings of yeast.

The taste is strong with a natural cherry flavoring. Sweet grain like wheat imparts almost a cereal quality. Tart cherry and wheat really come through in the finish. A mild alcohol inclusion is thrown in the mix and makes this come off somewhat medicinal. The grainy sweetness and cherry and the real drivers to this experience.

This is medium bodied with a light level of carbonation. A nice summer offering thats easy drinking. Overall this was a good fruit beer but I was let down by the description. I was really expecting a saison and just didnt get that from this.
