Served on tap in a pint glass

Appearance – The beer is served a very hazed yellow-orange color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading to leave a decent level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is biggest of some sweeter tropical aromas with a big tangerine and pineapple smell. Along with these smells comes some aromas of a pine and a good level of grapefruit hop along with just a bit of a floral hop smell rounding out the profile.

Taste – The taste begins with a somewhat fruity taste upfront with the tangerine in the nose the heaviest, but with other notes of mango and pineapple mixed within. Along with these flavors are some pine and floral hop tastes as well as a little bit of a grapefruit hop taste. While the grapefruit is lighter upfront it really kicks it up as the taste moves onto the end, bringing with it tons of sour bitterness. All while the grapefruit increases, the fruitiness decreases a bit and with a little bit of yeast and grass that come to the tongue at the end, one is left with a rather biting bitter grapefruit juice flavor that sticks in the mouth well afterward.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the lighter side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. The lighter body was good for the sour and bitter grapefruit flavors of the brew, but a bit of a higher carbonation would have been a bit more appropriate, so overall the feel was a little poor.

Overall – Ah.. It wasn’t awful, but was a little too thick on the grapefruit with it leaving a slightly off bitter grapefruit juice flavor to linger on the tongue.

Draft at the brewpub in Williamsport, PA.

Pours a slightly cloudy, pale golden straw/banana yellow color with a one finger, frothy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring.  Spotty lacing left behind.

Earthy floral hop aroma with dank, resinous pine character and sweet tropical/citrus fruit notes.  Pale malt, biscuit, cracker, grass and pine needle along with prominent fruit sweetness.  Strong hints of grapefruit, pineapple and orange peel in the nose.

On the lighter end of medium body with a crisp hop bite that lingers over the sweet citrus and tropical fruit notes into a nice dry finish.  Dry, bitter and earthy with pine needle and resinous grass countered by prominent pineapple and orange peel sweetness.  Pale biscuit malt backbone with some bread, light fruit and cracker.  Nice balance of dry bitterness, sweet citrus and pale malt.  Lighter body than I expected/prefer but this beer is very easy to drink.

I had this on tap at Brewhouse Grille, served in a pint chilled.

The color is golden hued, hazed IPA, light head adorns the regal golden ale. The smell is strong hop esters of citrus with a light malt adding sweetness to the nose with mild herbal odors with a citrus zest component adding the pith to the smell. The feel is dry and hoppy with more of a west coast take on the style with dry lemony bitter aspect with the dankness of herbs.

The feel leads to a taste that is in tandem with the aroma... there is plenty of citrus rind in the taste with a smooth malt base. The lemon and mild grapefruit flavors are well layered and the ale finishes on the dry side. Overall this is an excellent IPA, it is very drinkable and satisfying
