The colour is dark brown-red, almost black (90 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger head is beige and compact. It sinks down rather quickly leaving no lacing.

The smell is somewhat smoked (delicatessen), some bitter hops and notes of sweet coffee and dried red berries. Some alcohol in the background.

The taste is inviting and fresh. Mild coffee and chocolate, hints of smoked sausages. Lots of dark rye bread and some red berries. Mild clean bitter notes. Light to medium body. The aftertaste is creamy with mild coffee, cocoa and pumpernickel. The finish adds a fine bitterness.

The carbonation is mild to medium, the bubbles very fresh. The liquid is smooth.

A highly drinkable and refreshing schwarzbier!

A: Pours pitch black with a surprisingly pale head; white and medium size. Lots of lacings.

S: Roasted sweet dark malts. Some chocolate and some faint black coffee. DRY! Some smoked ham in the back.

T: Smoked ham and dark roasted milly sweet malt dominates. But there's also dark dried fruits, coffee and dark chocolate. In the back there's some liqourice.

M: Carbonation as well as body is medium. Aftertaste is smoked and bitter, lingers for some time. Overall a very smooth one.

O: My fellow reviewer up to date is having trouble with the style; Münchener Dunkel or Schwarzbier - for me this is very much a Schwarzbier, and a quite nice one. Dry and bitter!
