Two Rows says that this is a dopplebock, so I'll go with that for the listing. However, this doesn't taste much like the few German dopples that I've had. Appearance is amber-brown, which is about right for the style. From this point on things seem to deviate from dopple standards. Smell is hoppy, mainly of light pine aroma. Just a touch of malts. This is opposite of what I expected. Taste is also pretty hoppy, again with the pineyiness. Just a touch of sweet malts in the finish. Mouthfeel is a little chalky, but not terrible. This isn't a bad brew, but it doesn't fit the style at all. I won't review it too hard, but I think the brewer needs to change the recipe or retitle the beer.
