this brew pours a beautiful ruby red color with a small tan head. great lacing. the nose is tons of sugar, traditional English Barleywine aroma, sweet malts, alcohol. the taste is sugar, whiskey, sweet malts, oak, a kind of tart malty taste, a bitter finish. full bodied, low carbo....

Keep in mind, I dont like very sweet beers. If you're a fan of sweet beers, I suggest trying this one.

A: Pours a dark brown/amber color. A small white bubble head forms and recedes fast. Not much lace.
S: There is fairly complex aroma. A nice oak and bourbon aroma with a good malt content. An interesting butterscotch character that I find in many of Two Rows beers. Sometimes it is out of place, but it works great here. Lots of dark fruit and a bit of hop bitterness/spice towards the end.
T: Follows the nose. A bourbon whiskey flavor is prevalent, but it does not over power. Lots of malty butterscotch again and dark fruits. A hoppy flavor and some alcohol warming as the taste lingers.
M/D: Thick and syrupy. Medium to full bodied. I did not get the ABV at the brewery, but it is obvious this has a lot of alcohol that creates a nice warming effect. The alcohol is subdued and is a nice sipping beer.

Two Rows makes a lot of mediocre beers. This is not one of them. This is closer to an English Barleywine than its American counterpart. Also, the whiskey barrel aging works well here. Unlike the whiskey stout, this is a treat.

Unfortunatly I did not ask what kind of whiskey barrels where used, and for how long it was aged. No info was put on the breweries websight either. Though, whatever they did worked well.
