Our latest take on the now eponymous American IPA, Pacific Magic combines the straw coloration and crisp dry finish of a pilsner with the bitterness and aromatics of an aggressive West Coast Style IPA. In the spirit of reaching for an icy bottle or a fresh pint at the end of a day spent trekking our rugged coast, our aim is total satisfaction: refreshment without sacrificing complex flavor. Maybe it’s a trick of the light, but with a tilt of the glass Pacific Magic will make your thirst disappear.

A: Right from the bottle, pours a crystal clear golden color. A dense white head rises, with excellent retention. Rings of lace are left all the way down the glass. This is a looker.
S: Citrus and grapefruit rind billows out of the glass immediately. Peppery spice, floral, with an English biscuit like malt character. Wonderful.
T: Like the nose, that citrus and grapefruit burst out. Really fresh tasting, just a bit of pine resin. Peppery spice, lightly sweet biscuit like malt character. Finishes with the perfect amount of bitterness. This is really well done.
M/O: A medium body that is beautifully crisp and effervescent. Finishes wonderfully dry. Which all leads to this being really easy to drink. Incredibly moreish, and I'm looking for another way too quickly.

Simply, an excellent example of a classic West Coast IPA. So glad North Coast came out with this. I love when these older legacy breweries can come out with a great no frills no nonsense IPA like this. This is way better than any of the newer trends I have had in a while, and I hope this sticks around.

The clean finish of a session IPA but it's hiding some higher abv beneath the delicious resin-y hop flavor. This is what I'd expect North Coast version of IPA to taste like.

It reminds me a lot of Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA (one of my favorites). Not much of a smell to it but the resin hop flavor is excellent. Adding this to my short list of beers I'd buy a 12 pack of.

Awesome clear yeallow pour with good head and good lacing.
Very mild bread like aromas.
Kind of a mix between an IPA and lighter style beer. Nice bitterness with a touch of sweetness. There is also straw notes, so I'm giving this higher ratings since this is a very unique style.
Feels very thick in the mouth.
Overall an excellent beer.

Slight chill haze, golden color, frothy head, ok lacing. Caramel, bready malts and a floral hop with slight citrus finish. Bitterness moderate to high. Solid west coast IPA.

Remember the bottle but not the beer. Gave it a rating just a little above average, so decent but nothing special.

On tap at the brewery's taproom in Fort Bragg, CA.
Poured with a clear golden body topped with a durable white head.
Moderately strong with bitterness that is near average for the style. Highly harmonious and fairly well balanced.

12oz bottle. Date code on label is '30880808'. Purchased at the North Coast store, across the street from the brewery building.
Straw to pale gold colored body, with a haze obscuring the view. One finger of white head, and this lasts quite some time as a thin cap and high ring. Leaves behind partial walls of lacing.
Aroma is grapefruit, pine, and sweet malt.
Taste builds with increasing bitterness. Good blend of hop flavors - orange, grapefruit, red berry, vanilla ice cream, and pine. An enjoyable level of sweetness, that is, not too sweet, exists throughout. Mellow aftertaste.
Heavy cream mouth feel, which is long lasting. Has a balance between the sweet and the bitter. Very good carbonation.
Variation on the classic WCIPA, but without bitter fatigue, and a softer mouth feel. Enjoyable.

A straw yellow haze empties into the Spiegelau capped by a finger of rocky white foam & spider web lacing. Aromas of fresh baked bread, grapefruit, green melon, molasses, orange peel, pine, & white peaches. Taste follows w/ additional nuances of lemon peel, red berry, & tart pink grapefruit bordering on the white grapefruit side. The feel is crisp, drying & noticeably bitter, albeit somewhat restrained by the malt character. This is an excellent WCIPA.

12 oz bottle into a Becher glass.
L: Pours clear gold with a thin frothy white head, good steady carbonation, head recedes to thick skin and frothy edge foam, a good amount of lacing with some sheeting and banding.
S: Orange, general citrus, citrus zest, a hint of honey.
T: Radiant fruits, caramel malts, citrus, zest, late pine notes, a light suggestion of sea minerals, lemon, a hint of yeast and bread in the lingering finish.
F: Bright and snappy medium bodied feel with a firm center and a medium fast lightly drying finish.
O: A gorgeous looking and beautiful tasting WCIPA. Remarkably clean & bright citrus notes and retains a brisk feel throughout to the last sip. It is gently sweet and is outstanding in its style.

Pours a clear golden color with a nice, soapy-like, white foam head.

Citrus (grapefruit, orange), pine, and tropical fruit in the aroma.

Taste: citrus peel, and apricot balanced with a little malt. A slight bit of breadiness in there too. Medium bitterness in the finish.

Overall: an enjoyable IPA. A pretty straightforward West Coast style. Can't believe I passed this one up so many times.
