Found in a Moscow supermarket, the standard Czech brown half liter bottle greets you with a well-endowed blonde waitress in dirndl carrying four equally overflowing liter mugs of beer. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 12/16/06, I opened it on 2/19/06.
Pours a clear standard gold under a one finger white head that fades too quickly, leaving a bit of film but no discernible lacing. The nose is mild, but the dominant impression is the sickly sweet bad watermelon smell of too many Russian brews. The mouth is light and very prickly. The initial taste confirms my bad watermelon fears, with the malt possibly having turned bad. The Saaz hops are still there, providing a brief but wonderful espresso bite in the aftertaste. To get there, though, you have to get through sweet fruit and a touch of dirty socks. Interestingly, as the brew warmed either the socks faded or I got used to it, as I found myself enjoying it more and more as the drinking continued (yes, this was my first of the evening). End result was pretty positive.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
