Found in Moscow's premiere expat grocery store, the bottle is standard Czech brown half liter, with white foil and a silver and gold label featuring a crown under the name (in English). Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before D-Day 2006, I opened it to celebrate St. Nicholas Day 2005.
Pours a solid orangish gold under a 1/2 finger white head that fades a bit to quickly, leaving only collar and one splotch of film. No lace. The nose is spicey and slightly metallic - not much malt balance. The mouth is light and prickly. The taste lacks a bit on the malt side, as the metallic, then espresso, bitter kicks in pretty much right away. The bitter is pervasive, lingering throughout and well into the aftertaste. It's not bad, but a but unrefined. Were this from Russia, I'd be impressed. I expect more from the Czechs.

Clear, golden color, no bubbles, decent head, but quckly falling down.
Lighr smell of hop, not very fresh. In somewhat, warm and heavy.
Malty taste, with hop again, just slightly lighter and less heavy.
In any case, it left a general impression of something old, slightly stale. Maybe even some oxidation.
Medium-light body, malty aftertaste, with hop notes, but once again, slightly stale.
