Had in Beijing.
580ml bottle poured into a pint glass.
ABV: 3.6%
Born on date: 5/20/13
Ingredients list water, starch, barley, wheat, hops.
A- Light straw-yellow. Very watery and thin looking. Only a finger of soapy head that disappears immediately.
S- Faint smell of grain is then overpowered by malt sweetness.
T- Wet grain. A little sweeter than most of the macro lagers here in China. Presumably, this is due to the mysterious "starch" listed in the ingredients. Other than that, not much going on here.
M- Thin, watery, moderate carbonation. The slight cloying sweetness and makes this not as refreshing as most other macros.
I was hoping for more out of this offering from Harbin. The name Yipin Mai (一品麦) in Chinese means something like "first-rate wheat." However, neither such a noble name, nor the golden foil around the cap could make this beer taste good.
