What is Ellenburg's biggest attraction each year? Sampled at the brewery, the appearance has a some-what cloudy amber color with red hues throughout. A soft white head with good retention and lacing through the taster.
The nose comes out but is limited overall. Some malty undertones with a noticeable caramel backing. A light melanoidin aroma on the back end. The hops are limited and would have liked to see more come out. A citrus note with a very detectable cascade smell for sure. Some lemon and light herbal quality as well. No real off yeast notes, pretty clean.
The taste is a touch more descript. Specifically the hops notes but still would like to see more. A good cascade meet centennial hop note that lingers into the finish. Some bitterness but light overall. The malt is light with some lighter caramel notes but overall more of a background. The yeast is very clean and no real off notes.
The body is light to moderate. Could use a bit more depth but ok. Overall a easy drinking pale.

Iron Horse's website lists Rodeo at 4% ABV, while the house menu at their tasting room has it at 5%. It is a gently clouded brassy ale served with a smart soapy head after an initial surge of foam filled the glass. A vague aroma emulates the citric taste that leans more towards mandarin orange than typical lemon or grapefruit qualities. This draws to a tart finish on a fairly thin body. Routine.

Appearance is a misty copper orange with a light head. Smell has a nice malt and fruitiness with a light biscuit. Taste has a good balance of hop with the sweetness of the malts having a light fruitiness with a nice light hop bite at the end. Mouthfeel is medium with good body. If it tastes this good out of a bottle, I'd love to try it on tap.

Poured a light orange, amber that was clear. A thin white head that collared nicely into a good laciness. Aroma was hoppy and citrius. Taste was a hoppy, but very subtle. You could taste them but I thought it was overdone by the carbonation. It did a have light crisp feel to it, good texture. I will definetly drink one of these again.

Okay...
This thing poured with an average layer of fizz with an average lacing. The smell isn't very american pale, but is an average to low grade abbey ale. the taste is kind of a yeasty fermented rocky mountain oyster of a pisswater ale. it feels flat and sour. it's really not all that tasty. it's a slight sight above the loco motive ale, but not by much, and at 4.0% abv i can't justify the taste... perhaps if it were 5-6% i could justify it... it really tastes like alcohol malt water... yeah... that's the right description... AMW BEER! ungh. :(
i'm not sure i'm willing to try the brown or IPA at this point...

I bought a couple of bottles of Rodeo Extra Pale Ale while passing through the Kittitas valley. Poured in to a pint glass.
Pours a rich copper/gold color and is hazy. A fizzy white head forms and is gone in a flash.
Smell is a faint hoppy citrus aroma, perhaps with a hint of malted grain.
The taste is a sweet bread flavor with a mildly bitter hop finish.
Mouthfeel is smooth and medium bodied, lightly carbonated and a little thicker than I expected from an extra pale. Not much of a thirst quencher.
A drinkable brew, but not the greatest APA around. Higher carbonation and a thicker head would improve this one.

Had this at a beer festival in Ellensburg this weekend. Not much of a head, could be some issues with the co2 on the jockey box. Super nice color and aroma. This beer is a bit hoppy for my recollection of APA style beer. Not too much hops, but you can definitely taste them. Very refreshing and easy to drink.
