Great head leaves a lot of thick lacing. Clear and dark amber colour.

Malt flavor is wonderful. Simply fantastic. The fruity hops enhance the malt sweetness. Ends in a general hop bitterness.

Very smooth. Silly even.

Overall quite good. I suppose it's getting hate for not being as hoppy as some expect pnw IPAs to be.

Recommended.

Yellow pour, 1/4" white head. Aroma was bitter, crystal malt caramel.

Not exactly hoppy, kind of weird for an ipa. A lot of crystal malt really dominates. The hop flavors are muddled. This is a real average if that beer. Generic.

Bottle from Albertsons. Not as bad as some of these ratings would suggest. Aroma is slightly musty, funky, almost smells like rye. Murky copper pour, small tan foamy head. Taste brings immediate bitterness, hops while not too strong, obliterate any semblance of malt. Finishes bitter, and sticks around for a while. Good, but not great, IPA.

A - Slightly opaque gold. Fairly light white head that faded quick for an IPA. The ring around the glass remained, along with a few pillows of bubbles and a decent bit of lacing.

S - Dank. Pine, resiny citrus. Lemon grass and zest. Earthy, slightly sweet.

T - Dirty and earthy, fat resin that sits heavy on the tongue. A bit of tangerine and grassiness, some malt hiding in there too. Not supremely complex, but more than simple. Coppery on the finish, a lingering bitterness that sits in the back and the side of the mouth.

M - A bit on the heavy side, not overly so, but thicker than a typical single IPA.

Overall - Better than expected based on the reviews I've read. It seriously tastes dirty, but it works. Super earthy hops. Interesting and not bad.

Attractive orangey amber color with a veil of lacing in the Kasteel chalice. Pleasant tangy and spritzy mouthfeel. Flowery and piney aroma with a whiff of leaf mold.

Fruity, peach flavor. Rather sweet and acidic. A little dank and woodsy. Grapefruit peel bitterness for the finish. Very bitter aftertaste. This has some interesting melon flavors but all to soon inundated by the woody bitterness. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Haggens Market in Burlington.

Clear golden pour, big sudsy head. Deflates quickly, but the lacing sticks to the glass like glue. Smell is swampy pine, but in the best possible way. Taste and texture are a little one dimensional, with the oily hops dominating everything. Still, it's not bad by any stretch and you could do a lot worse for a $3 or $4 bomber.

Pours a finger of head on a clear dark straw body.
The aroma is honey and pine, a bit faint overall.
The taste is malty start, mild bitter middle and a longer pine bitter finish.
The texture is crisp.
Enjoyable.

Edit: Did Iron Horse tweak with this IPA or something? Tried it again tonight, May 27 2015, and it was completely different experience. Beautiful aromas. Beautiful colors. Perfect head retention and carbonation. Amazing taste and mouthfeel. So glad I gave it another go because it was very good.

Hazy look. Thin, quickly dissipated head. Not too much to the aroma. Scent picks up pretty standard ipa. Medium mouth feel. Excellent taste; piney, citrus northwest hop flavor. Enjoyable, tasty sweetness balances it out nicely.
I've been a fan of Iron Horse for a while and have been putting off trying this IPA. All that wasted time I could have been enjoying this very nice beer. Sure it may not blow you away but I cant see many people not enjoying this.
