Brewed with Mosaic, Azacca & Calypso Hops, this IPA is an explosion of hoppy, citrus flavors and aromas. It's like holding a roman candle, but better because you can drink it and it won't start your backyard on fire. Carapils malt helps stabilize this hop loaded, cand held hannon.

Rated 4/1/2020. I purchased a 6-pack from Safeway and tried it. It has a nice tropical hop flavor and aroma. It has all the hop tastes of citrus, tropical and a little dankness. Not as good as some, but better than others. 68 IBUs

apparently also called hand cannon? which is a better name for a beer obviously, and a mighty fine beer really. i feel like for how much irish death is all over town, the rest of the beer from iron horse is also very good. this is a modern, fresh, and sturdy ipa, deliciously hopped, way too drinkable for what it is, and somewhat distinct from the crowd, which has kind of been a theme with their beers in my opinion. mosaic, azacca, and calypso hops in here apparently, a unique combination that is not at all dominated by the most familiar of these varietals, the mosaic, which here only lends a little white lifesaver and resin to the profile, its the other hops that seem to flavor it more. cantaloupe, weed, orange tic tacs, pineapple, wet lawn, and floral honey all in the hops, really cool, i guess a lot of this must be coming from the calypso, which i do not know well. its cool that for how fruity is is, there is also some nice bitterness, a higher alpha snap at the end that dries up the oily hop texture and slight grain sweetness pretty immediately on the swallow after each sip. very full spectrum, robust, and west coast. medium bodied and moderately carbonated, sticky in the middle, clean and satisfying at the end. such a good ipa, they dont really make them like this anymore. this does a good job of being unique with the hops but on point in terms of the style. great beer!

22 Oz bottle No bottling info
Pours a fairly solid orange body with a white head. Lots of tiny visible carbonation. Not much retention. A small amount of lacing
Overall scent is not very prominent and a little astringent. I'm getting mostly pine with some melon notes, and soda cracker malt. A slight mosaic hop scent.
Taste is better then the scent. A decent hop/malt balance with a nice little bitter finish
Medium thin feel really works for me. Nice level of carbonation.
This was kind of an old school Northwest IPA (think Deschutes Inversion IPA) For some reason the label on this 22Oz beer says "Caned Hannon" as opposed to Hand Cannon. Perhaps this was an April fool's day version? ...Which would explain a lot. Today is June 21st!

Huge head. Great flavor. Not too grainy, not too hoppy, just right. Easy drinking. Carapils malt is good. Definitely will get this one again. Good lacing.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 12 fl oz can on July 31, 2018. Brewed with Mosaic, Azacca and Calypso hops. This IPA is an explosion of hoppy, citrus flavors and aromas. Lightly hazed deep gold with three fingers of white head. Rings of lace left on the sides of the glass.
Smell is pungent melon and dank.
Taste is strongly bitter with some melon and dank. Malts are just enough for the style.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with ample carbonation. The finish is dry and bitter.
Overall a tasty old school IPA.

Pours a hazy yellow with a bright white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is extremely dank, which is probably either good or bad, depending on your preference. I digg it. Tastes seems light, despite the aroma. Thin, vaguely grapefruity but mostly just a bitter profile. Mouthfeel is right for an IPA, which makes the light flavor seem kind of strange. Not terrible, but nothing to write home about, for sure.

Grunt fill from Albertsons. Medium / dark golden, small foamy head. Malty aroma, faint hops. More bready malts in the flavor, kind of dry. Light caramel. A bit weak , but OK.

Handsome yellow brew with plenty of foam in the Affligem chalice. The mouthfeel is quite sharp, without much mellowing malt. Aromatic with lime peel, green papaya, pineapple astringency. In fact my whole impression of this is "unripe."
There is a faint bit of mango in the gust of hop flavors, but it's quite bitter and not really fruity. Grapefruit peel finish. Hops are listed on the label as Mosaic, Azacca, and Calypso. You'd think that would be a winning combination but I find it harsh and overly acidic. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Haggen Market.
